Phytoplankton in Okinawa
Microscopic plankton captured by the IFCB in a coral reef and open ocean waters around Okinawa.
I’m currently using the Imaging FlowCytoBot (McLane Labs) to study microscopic plankton in coral reefs and open waters around Okinawa. By combining automated imaging with data analysis, I aim to estimate their abundance, size, and contibution to carbon budgets in these ecosystems. This will help understand how phytoplankton communities respond to nutrient inputs and how they influence ecosystem processes like carbon cycling in coral reefs.
